“Overnight Rick Perry has soared from unknown to Republican frontrunner; --- it’s reminiscent of four years ago when another unknown appeared out of nowhere, soared into the lead in the Democrat Primary, then rolled straight into the White House.

Now, Rick Perry – Governor of Texas, Air Force pilot, rugged cowboy – is the one on a roll and it’s Republican voters who have caught the blind date syndrome. But, maybe, out of prudence it’s time to stop to ask a few questions: Like how did it come to pass that Governor Perry, who supported Al Gore for President in 1988, is now talking like a Tea Partier?

All in all, our last blind date (four years ago) didn’t work out too well, so, maybe, this time the better part of wisdom would be to say to Governor Perry, Let’s slow down a bit and get acquainted first.”

Andy and the CSC crew couldn’t agree more. Rick Perry is looking mighty good these days especially when one visually imagines Perry and Obama on the debating stage together. But Gov Perry is being attacked on his immigration record and that may hurt him with many swing, independent and conservative voters. We feel that he has plenty of time to correct his course in that area, so we’ll continue to watch Governor “Good Hair” Perry closely. DD
