North Carolina Unemployment - Not What We Wanted But What We Expected . . .

"Another round of government job losses during September sent the state's jobless rate to its highest level in 17 months, the N.C. Employment Security Commission reported Friday.

The rate increased 0.1 percentage point to 10.5 percent.

The state experienced a loss of 22,200 jobs during September compared with August, of which 13,700 were government jobs. Over the past 12 months, there has been a reduction of 18,700 government jobs."

The gravity of this NC jobs report is sobering to the extreme especially knowing that the holidays are approaching and with so many of our fellow North Carolinians unemployed and under-employed. Our heart goes out to them and their families.
