Warning from Gun Owners of America - Take a Closer Look at Mitt Romney, Please...

Mitt Romney and Gun Control (letter published on GOA website yesterday) --

"In the recent Presidential debate, Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann said America’s voters did not need to “settle” for the moderate candidate. Amen to that.

And gun owners do NOT want candidates who talk out of both sides of their mouths.

As the Gun Owners of America’s Board of Directors looks at the Republican candidates running to unseat radical anti-gun President Obama, we see several who have strong pro-gun backgrounds. Ron Paul, Rick Perry, Michelle Bachman all have solid pro-gun records and deserve a hard look from pro-gunners.

At least one frontrunner candidate stands in contrast with a decidedly mixed record on the gun issue. While Mitt Romney likes to “talk the pro-gun talk,” he has not always walked the walk. . . ."

We at CSC Blog agree, Mr Lockwood. This is revealing and -- frightening. We almost wish it were a joke "but" this is the way contemporary democrats think, tragically.

Texas governor Rick Perry has pointed to job growth in Texas during the current economic downturn as one of his main accomplishments. But in a new report for the Center for Immigration Studies, based on data collected monthly by the Census Bureau, we found that newly arrived immigrants (legal and illegal) have been the primary beneficiaries of this growth between 2007 and 2011, not native-born workers.

Dr. John M. Whitley Announces Candidacy for
North Carolina’s 8th Congressional District

Whitley is the Only Announced Candidate Who Was Raised in the District and Actually Lives in the District

Kannapolis, NC: Dr. John M. Whitley, a Conservative Republican and a neurosurgeon who grew up in Cabarrus County and lives in Fairmont, NC, announced today that he will seek the Republican nomination for U.S. Congress in the 8th District.

Whitley, whose family includes fourth generation residents of Cabarrus County, graduated from A.L. Brown High School in Kannapolis, NC and obtained his bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He received his medical degree from Wake Forest University Bowman Gray School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, NC. In addition to his work as a neurosurgeon, Whitley is also a farmer who owns and operates All Creatures Animal Sanctuary which rescues animals others don’t want or can no longer care for including buffalo, horses, goats, cows, chickens, dogs, and cats. Whitley is a devout Methodist and a life-long member of his home church, Trinity United Methodist, across the street from A.L. Brown High School in Kannapolis. Most importantly, Whitley is a father and grandfather.

“As your next congressman, my top priority will be to promote economic growth and private sector job creation throughout the district by reducing the tax burden on small businesses and freeing them from oppressive and unnecessary regulations,” Whitley said. “Under Larry Kissell’s watch unemployment in the 8th District has skyrocketed, and the only thing Obama and Kissell’s stimulus package has stimulated is our national debt. It’s time to make tough decisions and set some priorities instead of raising the debt limit and kicking the can down the road. We must cut spending. We cannot resort to increasing any taxes on individuals or business. We must immediately remove the federal government from the lives and business of all our citizens as much as possible.”

As a physician who is very concerned about the future of health care in America, Whitley looks forward to leading the efforts in Congress to repeal and defund Obama Care. “Obamacare will decrease the quality of medical care, it will raise the cost of health care for everyone, and it has already eliminated thousands of jobs across America,” Whitley said. “If not repealed or defunded, Obamacare will put massive fiscal burdens on the states, not to mention all business owners in this country.”

“The 8th District is my home,” Whitley concluded. “It’s where my family is from, it’s where I grew up and it’s where I live. The people of this district are Conservatives at heart, and they deserve a Congressman who knows the district and will stand up for their beliefs and values. This is going to be one of the most competitive Congressional races in the Country. It’s going to take at least $500,000 just for the primary. I am confident we will have the ample resources necessary to win this race and to bring Conservative representation back to the 8th District.”

The 8th congressional district includes parts of Cabarrus, Union, Rowan, Davidson, Mecklenburg Randolph and Robeson Counties and all of Stanly, Montgomery, Anson, Scotland and Richmond Counties. The district is currently represented by Democrat Larry Kissell, whom Heritage Action for America recently ranked as having a more liberal voting record than Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank, Barbara Lee, and Dennis Kucinich. The Hill (“Capitol Hill’s newspaper”) recently called Kissell the most likely Democrat to be defeated in 2012, and Roll Call recently rated the seat as “likely Republican.”

Salisbury NC Finally Makes Front Page of Drudgereport....

September 15th, 2011, Drudge Report - Front Page (actually lower left - well below what would be called "the fold": NC Man Banned From Hunting -- Anywhere in the World!

And, yes, the perp was Rodney L. Poteat of Salisbury NC, Rowan County.

No less than the U.S. DoJ went after Poteat and he was charged on July 27th and sentenced in U.S. District Court, Kentucky on Sept. 7th. He paid a hefty fine and part of his agreement with the court - no hunting for 2 years - worldwide! (which apparently piqued the interest of Matt Drudge)

Poteat's heinous crime was that he killed a white tail buck (a 14 pointer!) in KY and transported it to his home in Salisbury. Poteat could not be reached for comment "but" reliable sources have speculated that the reason he did this was because it was easier than transporting the buck - alive. (Ever see the movie Tommy Boy?)

Poteat also pleaded guilty to the charge of transporting a Bobcat from Ky to his home "and" that he failed to report the "harvest" of said bobcat. Again, it is assumed that he killed the bobcat rather than harvesting it for obvious reasons; they're easier to transport that way. Uh-huh.

So, Salisbury NC once more gets its 15 minutes of fame. The home of Cheerwine and the birth place of Libby Dole - both can move over and make room for Rodney L. Poteat.

And hats off to the U.S. Dept of Justice and U.S. District Court of KY. They certainly have their priorities straight, don't they? Going after such a hardened criminal and saving the entire world for 2 years from this terrible - bobcat harvester! We'll all sleep better tonight, won't we?

If CNN's Senior Poltical Analyst Says It . . .

David Gergen, CNN senior political analyst (analyzing Monday's GOP debate):

"There's no question that Romney and Perry will remain the frontrunners Romney has a better command of the facts. He's a more practiced debater. He gave one of the best answers of his entire campaign when he was asked how he would balance the budget. But Perry has the command presence, and even though people took shots at him as you said, he deflected reasonably well, he came in as a better debater, he was more even this time." Apparently Mr Gergen has his mind made up and has chosen our future GOP nominee for us. It'll be Perry or Romney. Or could this be wishful thinking on his part?

Not this time, sir. Its possible that Mr Gergen has forgotten the various Tea Party groups (some of whom apparently helped sponsor this debate) who continue to throw their formidable support behind the Bachmann and Cain campaigns/orgs. These groups are not quite ready to simply accept whatever candidate(s) the media and Republican hierarchy toss their way. No matter how nicely packaged and polished they are.

Its way too soon to declare who the nominee will be, Mr Gergen. Way too soon. Its a new era - no politics as usual.

One only has to look back at where John McCain’s campaign was at this point in 2008 to know that it is way too early to count out any of the serious candidates in the race. Governor Perry may very well be the nominee. His record on the economy is outstanding and minus immigration, he’s got just about all the right Conservative credentials. However, with the conservative voters that will dominate most caucuses and primaries we here at CSC see little path to the nomination for Romney. He’ll likely do well and poll well, but not well enough to win. His record and his always changing stances on the issues are just too far out of line with the base Conservative Republican voter. And it’s those Conservative caucus and primary voters that will decide the nominee in January, February, and March of 2012 not a CNN analyst in September of 2011. It could be Perry or someone like a Bachmann (heck even Gingrich if he continues to perform like he did in this week’s debate) could prove to be the comeback kid of 2012.

DNC & Wasserman-Schultz: "Rules? We Don't Need No Steenking Rules!"

I suppose the Democrats have forgotten that they no longer control the House. And that they can no longer be as bad as they wanna be. But then maybe they can. Who among our Republicans will push-back hard on this blatant violation of House ethics by Congresswoman Wasserman-Schultz? Will it happen...:



The Democratic National Committee (DNC), Monday, released a 30-second web ad promoting President Barack Obama’s jobs plan as part of a new campaign to promote the bill and its $477 billion price tag. But does that ad violate ethics rules? Some say yes. . .
